Discover a playground in the great outdoors

October 4, 2019

Situated among the region’s renowned natural attractions including the Daintree National Park, the Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation, Silky Oaks Lodge is a luxurious base from which to plan your adventures. From indigenous cultural walks, river snorkelling and diving the reef to horse riding, hot air ballooning and helicopter tours, there are more ways than ever to explore the magnificent Daintree region. Additional charges apply.

Mossman Gorge Dreamtime Walk

The Kuku Yalanji people are the indigenous inhabitants of the Daintree Rainforest whose history dates around 50,000 years. The ancient culture is built around a deep respect for nature and an intimate knowledge of its cycles. Experience firsthand the invaluable wisdom passed down through the generations on an indigenous guided walking tour of the stunning Mossman Gorge – considered a must-do!

Oaks Kitchen & Garden

Inspired by their appetite for South East Asian cuisine and culture, local chefs Ben Wallace and Rachael Boon welcome visitors to their alfresco kitchen, complete with organic garden and chooks! Join a fun, hands-on masterclass and savour the flavours of fresh seasonal ingredients, learn new cooking techniques and afterwards, enjoy lunch with good company.

FNQ Safari

Set off on a full day adventure exploring North Queensland’s world-renowned natural attractions from the hinterland to the coast with renowned local operator, FNQ Nature Tours. Visit the remote outpost of Cape Tribulation, spot birdlife and crocodiles while cruising the Daintree River and wander among rainforest trails for a glimpse of the elusive southern cassowary. Enjoy lunch at a local cafe, stop for a scoop (or three!) of exotic fruit icy confection at the Daintree Icecream Company and drink in magnificent views at lookouts along the way.

Sailaway Private group

Sailaway Reef Cruise

Sail in luxury aboard Sailaway’s custom-built catamaran to the very edge of Australia’s Continental Shelf to discover a dazzling underwater world teeming with marine life. Explore the coral cays of the Mackay or Undine Reefs on a guided snorkel tour led by a marine biologist or opt to stay dry and observe the kaleidoscopic colour by glass-bottom boat.
