One of Baillie Lodges’ highly regarded assistant lodge managers, Bridie Bush originally joined the Longitude 131 team in 2021 in the role of restaurant manager and has progressed into her current position in less than a year.

Bridie’s commitment to her career development is evident in her completion of an online MBA while the hospitality industry was on hold during the pandemic. Shortly afterwards, Longitude 131 General Managers Ben and Louise Lanyon called to invite Bridie to make the move to the Red Centre as Assistant Lodge Manager. Bridie offers this advice to people thinking of making the move to the remote Longitude 131: “Make the most of it! It’s really nice to have a small community of people you can make friends with, while having the opportunity to save money”.

After two fulfilling years in the Red Centre, Bridie and her Executive Chef husband, Ryan, relocated across the Tasman to work at our sister property, Huka Lodge.  In a workplace where no two days are the same, Bridie is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the lodge. The days are busy and Bridie is adept at multitasking; she helps with guest arrivals and departures and is a touchpoint for guests throughout their stay, she assists across all departments including front- and back-of-house. Bridie’s role as assistant lodge manager has not only enriched her skillset but also prepared her for future leadership roles within Baillie Lodges.
