‘Creating something that you know people will love, that’s what it’s all about,’ says Mandy when describing what she loves about working at The Louise.

After being cleared of cancer in 2017, Mandy joined The Louise at the Barossa in the Housekeeping team. She enjoyed it so much that she was soon asked to take on the role of Housekeeping Supervisor. Developing strong relationships with the Housekeeping and wider leadership teams, Mandy then stepped into the Housekeeping Manager role. There, Mandy’s role included managing staffing levels for the day, briefing the team, ordering stock, inspecting rooms, helping the team and checking linen in the on-site laundry affectionately known as ‘The Palace’.

Stepping out of her comfort zone during the pandemic, Mandy volunteered to work across multiple departments at The Louise, splitting her day between the kitchen as a Breakfast Cook and Food and Beverage Attendant and the Housekeeping department. An unusual pairing, but a testament to Mandy’s commitment to the success of The Louise.

Mandy transitioned into the Guest Services Supervisor role in early 2023 and later into the Guest Services Manager position. Working closely with her mentors, the Assistant Lodge Manager and General Manager, Mandy aims to further develop her technical and leadership skills.

Taking advantage of the staff rate offered by Baillie Lodges, Mandy enjoyed some well-earned rest at Silky Oaks Lodge recently, a great perk that also allowed her to better understand the guest experience at these lodges, which will assist in her role as Guest Services Manager.
