Current Opportunities
Spa Therapist
As Spa Therapist, you will bring your healing energy to our guests through a range of treatments and massages. The tranquil Spa at the new Southern Ocean Lodges will make the most of its coastal office that is the wonderous Kangaroo Island.
August start date
You will be someone that likes to connect with people and the environment. Your office is the wonderous Kangaroo Island, and you enjoy bringing your healing energy to our guests through a range of treatments and massages.
Treatments will feature locally made products from ‘Alkeme’, created in fresh, small batches by modern-day alchemist Aphra Skye Heron. Inspired by her upbringing in wellness, the all-natural range embraces the age-old practices of alchemy, ‘making magic from nature’ using a blend of native botanicals and sustainable, often wild-sourced ingredients.
The Candidate:
- You will have proven experience in a spa environment, with a minimum of 1 – 2 years as a Spa Therapist, ideally in the luxury space
- You will have a ‘can-do’ team attitude and approach – and this will be infectious with the rest of the team.
- You will love your hands-on and professional approach, and receive joy from all treatments you give
- The team will love your sense of humour and your ability to make work, fun
- You will hold – Cert IV in Massage and/or Beauty Therapy (or equivalent)
Room Attendant
We now have rewarding opportunities for Room Attendant to join our Southern Ocean Lodge family on Kangaroo Island.
- Servicing and cleaning suites and public areas to a high standard
- Ensuring rooms are stocked with guest amenities, towels and linens
- Assisting in laundering and sorting linen for our fifteen suites
- Working with colleagues to ensure all guest rooms are delivered on time
What we’re looking for
- Experience within a hotel or serviced apartments advantageous

This is a full-time role. Your on-site accommodation and meals will be provided for a nominal charge.

Maintenance Handy-person
This is a great opportunity for a Maintenance Handy-person to join our Southern Ocean Lodge family on Kangaroo Island.
The Role
As handy-person you will work with the maintenance team on all maintenance at SOL. You will do this through;
- Working with the team to carry out repairs and maintenance as required
- Maintain all landscaping
What we’re looking for
- Extensive maintenance-related qualifications and/or significant experience in maintenance within the hotel/resort industry
- Highly motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to product specifications
- Ideally, good working knowledge of mechanics, pools, plumbing and electrical
- Ability to work & make decisions under pressure
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experiences Guide
We have an exciting opportunity for an Experiences Guide to join our Southern Ocean Lodge family on Kangaroo Island.
The Role:
Your office is the outdoors, and you enjoy bringing people together to explore some of Australia’s most beautiful unspoilt wilderness. Where your day is spent being a true host to our guests, deliver high-quality tours and create the ultimate itinerary for all guests.
You’ll have extensive knowledge of Australian animals and plants, ideally those that are endemic to Kangaroo Island. Additionally, your understanding of the local history and indigenous culture will provide a balanced, educational experience for our guests.
You will have…
- Proven experience as a naturalist guide
- Extensive knowledge of native flora, fauna and ecology, and the ability to provide relevant information and interpretation to guests
- A great sense of humour and the ability to instil this approach in your team
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of guests and team members
- The ability to work across flexible rosters including weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and school holidays
- MUST HAVE – A full South Australian Drivers license and South Australian Small Passenger Vehicle license (or ability to get)

Assistant Groundsman
We are looking for an Assistant Groundskeeper to join our close-knit team,
This role will see you assisting to manage our beautiful Lodge and 8 acres of gardens
This role will see you:
- Managing all lodge lawns including being proficient in the software required to control the irrigation system.
- Conduct Garden Tours as requested.
- Assist the Head Groundsman in the maintenance of all lodge gardens.
- To be proficient in the use of chemicals, sprays and the safe handling of such substances.
- To assist with the training of new staff members in the department.
- To be an efficient part of the Huka Lodge team by maintaining effective communication and by practising “attention to detail”.
- Maintain a clean working environment around the lodge, ensuring all equipment is used in the correct manner.
