World Heritage-listed Lord Howe Island is part of New South Wales and is located just 700 kilometres – or a short two-hour flight – from Australia’s east coast. The tiny island is just eleven kilometres in length, with a crescent shaped lagoon home to the world’s southernmost coral reef. Warm currents flow southwards from the Coral Sea, making diving or snorkelling straight from the beach an easy option, where a vibrant submarine world is home to a kaleidoscope of corals, tropical fish and turtles. A range of hikes take in subtropical rainforests, mountaintops and pristine beaches.
Lodge
Nine beach-house style suites at each offer a different view of Lord Howe, all with the swish and sway of endemic Kentia palms in the background. Life partners Libby Grant and Mark MacKillop lead the team at Capella Lodge. Twenty-five guest tents are dotted along the river and coastal inlet, each offering end-of-the-bed views to the coastal wilderness. General Manager Sarah Cruse returned to Clayoquot as General Manager for the 2020 season. In the interim, Sarah has enjoyed a successful term leading Dunton Hot Springs in Dolores, Colorado. Sarah has nearly 20 years of experience leading luxury experiential resorts, including a decade at the helm of Peninsula Hotels’ Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California. Sarah’s passion for Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge will ensure the lodge continues to be recognised as a world class travel and adventure destination.
Staff Lifestyle
The staff village at Clayoquot is located two kilometres up the river from The Outpost. A fun-loving, tight-knit community of around a hundred employees, the lodge’s remote location is a catalyst for an incredibly social environment. Staff are welcome to remain onsite on their days off to make the most of their incredible backyard, as well as included meals and complimentary accommodation. The staff boat runs into town daily for those who wish to visit Tofino.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Huka Lodge General Manager Kerry Molloy has been at the helm of the prestigious property since 2014, after a career in high-end hospitality and as manager of some of the country’s most esteemed luxury lodges. Kerry’s first job as a porter paved the way for a stint in the hotel industry in London for 14 years. Stopping by in Sydney on the way through to work at the Intercontinental Hotel, Kerry then worked at New Zealand’s trio of Robertson Lodges before landing at home at Huka Lodge. Working here, he says is like being on a movie set: lots of action behind the scenes and blissful tranquillity out the front.

Spa Therapist
As Spa Therapist, you will bring your healing energy to our guests through a range of treatments and massages. The tranquil Spa at the new Southern Ocean Lodges will make the most of its coastal office that is the wonderous Kangaroo Island.

Treatments will feature locally made products from ‘Alkeme’, created in fresh, small batches by modern-day alchemist Aphra Skye Heron. Inspired by her upbringing in wellness, the all-natural range embraces the age-old practices of alchemy, ‘making magic from nature’ using a blend of native botanicals and sustainable, often wild-sourced ingredients.
The Candidate:
- You will have proven experience in a spa environment, with a minimum of 1 – 2 years as a Spa Therapist, ideally in the luxury space
- You will have a ‘can-do’ team attitude and approach – and this will be infectious with the rest of the team.
- You will love your hands-on and professional approach, and receive joy from all treatments you give
- The team will love your sense of humour and your ability to make work, fun
- You will hold – Cert IV in Massage and/or Beauty Therapy (or equivalent)
Room Attendant

The Role
- Servicing and cleaning suites and public areas to a high standard

We have an exciting opportunity for an Experiences Guide to join our Southern Ocean Lodge family on Kangaroo Island.
The Role:
Your office is the outdoors, and you enjoy bringing people together to explore some of Australia’s most beautiful unspoilt wilderness. Where your day is spent being a true host to our guests, deliver high-quality tours and create the ultimate itinerary for all guests.
You’ll have extensive knowledge of Australian animals and plants, ideally those that are endemic to Kangaroo Island. Additionally, your understanding of the local history and indigenous culture will provide a balanced, educational experience for our guests.
You will have…
- Proven experience as a naturalist guide
- Extensive knowledge of native flora, fauna and ecology, and the ability to provide relevant information and interpretation to guests
- A great sense of humour and the ability to instil this approach in your team
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of guests and team members

We are looking for an Assistant Groundskeeper to join our close-knit team,
This role will see you assisting to manage our beautiful Lodge and 8 acres of gardens
This role will see you:
- Managing all lodge lawns including being proficient in the software required to control the irrigation system.
- Conduct Garden Tours as requested.
- Assist the Head Groundsman in the maintenance of all lodge gardens.
- To be proficient in the use of chemicals, sprays and the safe handling of such substances.

- You will work alongside the restaurant manager to curate an exceptional winelist
- Working with the service team to deliver exceptional service over dinner in Appellation.
- You will work with the team to drive the wine and beverage culture at The Louise through interactive training and driving service standards
- You will help administer the wine list, managing stocktakes, COG’s and beverage related expenses
What we’re looking for
- Strong knowledge of Australian wines and wine regions – with a passion for Barossa wines
- Restaurant or Hotel experience within a similar environment
- Flair for organisation with high attention to detail
- Impeccable presentation
- WSET certification – or the equivalent
- Outstanding guest relations and communication skills
