Working in a small restaurant in a seaside town reminded Kate of what she loves about the hospitality industry. It provides the opportunity to deliver premium products in a way that is so much more than just great food, wine or service, but an experience for guests they will remember for a lifetime.

Kate’s career path at Longitude 131° saw her transition from an F&B Attendant to an Experiences Guide before rising to the role of Assistant Lodge Manager. Reminiscing over her time there Kate recalls, ‘One of my favourite things to do was to hike up the Valley of the Winds trail at first light to see the sunrise from Karingana Lookout – an unmissable experience!’.

When the opportunity arose to broaden her horizons all the way to the northern hemisphere, Kate jumped at the chance and she is now Assistant General Manager at Baillie Lodges’ first North American venture, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Kate has an innate desire to deliver excellent customer experiences. Whether it’s suggesting the right wine for dinner (she was General Manager for a family-run wine business in Coonawarra, South Australia) or tailoring a tour. She combines her excellent communication and organisational skills to understand what experience they’re looking for and delivers something even better.

‘It’s every little detail that makes the guest experience something they’ll remember for a lifetime’, Kate said.
