Returning to Southern Ocean Lodge after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Andy found a taste for Food & Beverage. He progressed through the lodge’s restaurant team from team leader to supervisor before taking up the role of Restaurant Manager.
Well regarded as the ultimate quiet achiever, Andy’s calm nature and ‘do not panic’ credo lead him to be a favourite among both his colleagues and Southern Ocean Lodge guests. Having played an essential role in the evacuation of guests and staff from Southern Ocean Lodge during the devastating bushfires which destroyed it in 2020, Andy was offered a secondment to sister property Longitude 131° at Uluru-Kata Tjuta in Australia’s Red Centre.
‘Greatness from small beginnings,’ Andy says. ‘I am truly grateful to be part of the Baillie Lodges family. I have learned that even the smallest details count and will completely change the guests’ perspective. As a family and a team, we strive to provide the best experience in some of the world’s most spectacular locations.’
Following his outback rendezvous, Southern Ocean Lodge was thrilled to welcome Andy back on-board in February 2022 as an integral member of the opening team as the lodge’s reincarnation looms. In even more exciting news, a few months later Andy received his Australian Permanent Residency. Officially an Australian citizen as of June 2022, Baillie Lodges is incredibly proud to have sponsored Andy’s residency – a small price to pay for individual who has given so much over the years. Congratulations and thank you Andy, we hope there are many more years to come!
